How does Metadefender Endpoint Management classify devices as Servers, VMs, Desktops or Laptops?

Metadefender Endpoint Management uses the OESIS Framework to determine if a particular device is a desktop, laptop or virtual machine. To determine if a computer is a server Metadefender Endpoint Management inspects the operating system name.

The server condition is evaluated before other conditions, so if a device is a server and also a virtual machine, it will be reported as a server.
